Celebrating your efforts

Clara Thompson, Westfield High School, Houston, TX

I cannot do my job without such support from this organization because being the college counselor who serves 9th-12th graders, serving about 2,200 students, I have to make sure I meet their needs. This is one of the biggest ways that I can meet their needs, whatever they may be. Thank you for this opportunity to be celebrated for efforts that make a difference in the future of our generation to come, our future leaders.

I have witnessed amazing collaborations and projects across the curriculum in my time here, and none of them would be possible without the use of the resources and materials I offer to students and staff. In these stressful and turbulent times, my Fab Lab is a haven to so many, who want to create amazing projects and express themselves creatively. It is a “no-judgement zone”, and a safe space in which all students feel comfortable being themselves and learning and growing in their own way as they travel down their individual paths in life. I provide solace and a chance for my patrons to search for and find new hobbies, and pursue their goals and dreams. I have helped several students who have started their own businesses make merchandise and promotional items to advertise and gain more clientele. I have provided teachers options to assess student learning by offering them unconventional methods to create and show their understanding and mastery of skills. I open my library to our feeder high schools’ Special Education departments in which students who do not qualify to take higher-level classes here in our Center for Advanced Studies to utilize these wonderful resources. I have worked one-on-one with several of these students to help them create projects with resources they normally would not have access to in their programs. The funds this grant would provide would allow me to buy so much to keep the Fab Lab functioning as a free resource for all who wish to utilize it.

I am humbled and very grateful for such a blessing. I am very pleased and honored to be a recipient of the ڰ grant award. The grant will be of great assistance in providing extra resources to help with teaching and learning AP Biology. The 3D courseware will be of great help with AP Biology, where both I and my students are English Language Learners. With our cultural background and upbringing, most of our learning process that occurs at home is mostly practicing and observing. Having the resources to purchase online programs to be utilized for teaching and learning will be of great benefit.

I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to support our robotics team through this generous grant. Operating a competitive robotics program comes with significant costs, but the skills and experiences these students gain are priceless. This funding will help us provide students with hands-on STEM opportunities that will be invaluable as they prepare for the challenges and innovations of the 21st century. Thank you for empowering our team to dream bigger and work towards a brighter future.

I am truly honored and grateful to receive the grant from the National Society of High School Scholars. This support goes beyond financial assistance; it is a heartfelt affirmation of our commitment to promoting social-emotional learning and wellness for our campus community. Your grant will enable us to provide students with crucial counseling resources that address their emotional and mental health needs. It allows us to further expand our social-emotional learning initiatives with a unique focus on mindfulness as a complement to their educational journey. Thank you for believing in the mission of school counselors and for investing in the future of our students. Your support helps us create a culture of wellness within our campus community.

There will always be a new idea that teachers have that can make the classroom a more meaningful and exciting place for students. There is not always district funding. ڰ has provided my classroom with funds more than once over the course of my entire teaching career. Whether it's an expanded film library or more production equipment, my students have had more opportunities to do college level work and feel like professionals because of ڰ grants. Thank you, ڰ! Please keep supporting teachers! Teachers, if you have an exciting idea and need support—apply!

It is always humbling to receive an award, but also something to be prideful of at the same time, and I am grateful to ڰ for the efforts it makes to recognize teachers.

I am deeply grateful to ڰ for awarding our math department a $500 grant toward the purchase of replacement calculators. In education, we often ask students to reach their highest potential while quietly working behind the scenes to ensure they have the tools they need to get there — and this grant has made that possible in a very real and meaningful way. ڰ's commitment to supporting educators speaks volumes about their dedication to academic excellence at every level. To students and educators who may be considering applying for ڰ opportunities: do not hesitate. This organization invests in people who are passionate about making a difference, and the impact of that investment reaches far beyond any single classroom. Our students are already benefiting, and for that, I am sincerely thankful.

Thank you so much for the grant! I love coaching extracurriculars for students, especially those that are academically-oriented. I feel that students who prefer academics over athletics are often overlooked at the high school level. Budgets and boosters are there for football, basketball, and even marching band. However, there is not always support for academic clubs like creative writing or chess. Further, if a school offers advanced academics like computer science and engineering, they have already invested a lot in the day-to-day operations. But what about extra projects or competitions? I will be using this grant to purchase competition polos for our Academic Decathlon team and blazers and neckties/cross ties for our Mock Trial team. The clothing serves as a team uniform, providing identity and showing the students that they are important representatives of our school and district! Thank you so much for making this possible!

This grant is an incredible support for my Theatre program and will make a meaningful impact in the lives of my students. Thank you ڰ for your commitment to arts education and for believing in the power of theatre to transform lives. I can't wait to put this grant to work at the Texas Thespian festival and I look forward to sharing the results of your investment with our community.
